A convergence brings together delegations with the purpose of building power and inciting action.
During this gathering attendees are coordinated in four groups:
Hands in the Earth (Farmers, Ranchers, Traditional Foodways Practitioners)
Knowledge to Share (Scientists and Technical Advisors)
Voices with Vision (Policy Makers and Tribal Leadership)
Movement Builders (Students, Funders, Health Practitioners, Educators, Retailers)
The purpose of the Carbon Sink Farming Convergence is to better understand one another so that we may move forward with a shared sense of purpose. We consider our efforts "successful" because we take the time to hear one another and began to lay the groundwork for action areas built on trust and respect. Our plan is to transform our collective notes into action items based on the four "strategies" that emerged in the final sessions. Rather than attempt to launch a new local, regional, national or international organization, we are confident that these strategies will inform our work within the groups we are already fostering.
